10 Most Common Home Inspection Problems
By having this information, your goal is to know what is the most common problems found by Home Inspectors. You can try and fix the 'issues' before a prospective buyer finds them. Many of these 'problems' can be fixed very inexpensively.
Start by walking around the exterior of your home. Do you see moss on your roof? Faulty gutters? A leaky water pipe? Poor grading and drainage? Maybe find clues by looking for puddles, or a section of grass that is dead.
Walk inside and be aware of lights that do not work. Maybe they are old bulbs, but many times we get used to having broken switches or fixtures. Also be aware of missing outlet or switch covers.
After you have walked through your house once, do it again. This time be thinking about young children that are curious with putting their little fingers in holes, outlets, safety concerns, and more.
Do you have 'working' smoke and CO2 detectors? This is the law. Go find those detectors that you took down several years ago because it was chirping, and put them back up with a new battery.
